内容简介

Middle management is the key to success implementation and operation of any management system. It is therefore essential to understand their attitude towards, and their beliefs in, such a system. Extensive research shows that positive attitudes are associated with support and participation- negative attitudes are associated not only with lack of support, but often with active resistance. This study, by Dr Douglas Davis, and based on his doctoral thesis, closely examines the relationship between Australian middle managers and the quality management programs within their organization. The study focuses on the two occasionally competing systems that have dominated practice in Australia, TQM and ISO 9000, and asks what factors are important in forming the attitudes of middle managers towards quality programs. The book identifies these factors, and the manner in which they influence middle management participation in such programs. As well as providing a methodical and detailed analysis into these questions, this book also offer a unique insight into middle management thinking and how this may be influenced to provide better overall performance.
